Youngstown City School District is proud to announce that beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, the consolidated Chaney and East high schools and middle schools will be named Youngstown Unified.

This change is part of the district’s two-phase reconfiguration plan, announced May 11, 2025, which merges the two traditional high schools at the current East High School site and unites the middle schools at the current East Middle School site. Rayen Early College High School and Middle School will continue operating, with plans to eventually relocate both to the Chaney campus starting in fall 2026 and 2027, respectively.

Superintendent Jeremy Batchelor described the transition as ā€œa visionary step forward,ā€ highlighting the opportunity to expand educational programs, extracurriculars, and access to modern facilities through a more inclusive learning environment.

To help shape this next chapter, YCSD is inviting families, scholars, and the community to vote on the new mascot by completing a survey at https://forms.gle/1pZ6hiNPNutzpMe98 through Monday, June 30, 2025.
