Delta GEMS

Dear Scholars & Parents/Guardian:

The women of the Youngstown Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in conjunction with Youngstown City Schools, would like to extend an invitation to your student to participate in the Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully Program – one of the Sorority’s National Programs.  The Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully Institute (GEMS) designed for young ladies 14-18 years of age who have the desire and are interested in developing academic success, proper goal setting, developing compassionate, caring, community minded young women, emphasizing decision-making and planning for the high school years and beyond. The Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMs Institute is named after the twelfth President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, who was a legendary pioneer in the field of education.  Dr. Noble was an exemplary role model serving by appointment on United States Commissions for Presidents Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon.

The GEMs Institute will instill the need to excel academically, create an attitude of caring, compassion, and community involvement through service, tools to assist in high academic achievement and planning for future careers.
