In collaboration with the Public Library, we hosted New York Times bestselling mystery author Natalie D. Richards on Wednesday, October 23rd. Natalie is known for her gripping Young Adult thrillers and Middle Grade adventure novels. She discovered her passion for storytelling early, winning her first writing contest in second grade with a short story about Barbara Frances Bizzlefishes, who refused to do the dishes. Today, her books feature strong female characters, moody male leads, and plenty of dark, eerie twists.
Before becoming a full-time author, Natalie spent years writing dry business documents but eventually realized her true talent lies in crafting imaginative stories. She embraces a spontaneous writing process, often diving into scenes without knowing where they'll lead, which keeps the suspense genuineāeven for her! She currently resides in Ohio with her three children and a very large dog named Wookie.
Natalie spoke to our scholars about her writing process. Each scholar was given her best-selling book, Five Total Strangers, and had an opportunity to meet Natalie while getting their books signed.
